The University of Greenwich “Open Day Social Media Competition” Terms and Conditions

1. By entering the competition, you are accepting these terms and conditions and agreeing to be bound by them.

2. The prize draw is promoted by the University of Greenwich, Old Royal Naval College, Park Row, Greenwich, London, SE10 9LS (“University of Greenwich”).

3. The decision of the judges is final on all matters relating to selecting the winning entry and these terms and conditions, and no correspondence will be entered into in this regard.

4. No purchase necessary in order to participate in this prize draw.

5. Participation in this prize draw is free and open to persons who are 16 years or over and are residents of the United Kingdom.

6. This competition is open registered attendees of the University of Greenwich Open Day, 22nd November 2025. Registered attendees are classed as those who provided their name and checked-in with a staff member from the University Greenwich staff at one of the check-in points on Saturday 22nd November 2025.

7. Full-time employees of the University of Greenwich, and any immediate family members or co-habitants of such employees, are not eligible to enter the prize draw.

8. Entries must be submitted via Instagram. Entries must be labelled with #greopenday.

9. All images submitted must be the work of the individual submitting them and must not have been published elsewhere or have won a prize in any other photographic competition. It is the responsibility of each entrant to ensure that any images they submit have been taken with the permission of the subject and do not infringe the copyright of any third party or any laws. Entrants must warrant that the photograph they are submitting is their own work and that they own the copyright for it.

10. Copyright in all images submitted for this competition remains with the respective entrants. However, in return for being considered for a Competition prize, each entrant agrees that the University will be free to use the image in its social media accounts, websites and promotional material connected to this competition ( a “worldwide, irrevocable, perpetual licence”).

11. Prize draw participants can submit their entries with effect from 09:01:01 am GMT on 22 November 2025 to 14:00:00 pm GMT on 22 November 2025.

12. One entry per person. Late, incomplete, defaced, or corrupt entries will not be accepted. No responsibility can be accepted for lost entries and proof of transmission will not be accepted as proof of receipt. Entries must not be sent through agencies or third parties.

13. The winning entry will be that which is judged to be the most visually appealing, original and self-explanatory. The winner will be notified within fourteen days of the closing date of the competition.

14. The winner will receive a University of Greenwich branded hoodie. The prize is subject to availability, and the University of Greenwich may, at its discretion, substitute the prize for a suitable alternative. No cash or other alternative can be requested by the winner and proof of identity satisfactory to the University of Greenwich may be required to collect the prize.

15. By accepting the prize, the winner agrees that the University of Greenwich may publish their name and county of residence in any media in connection with the prize draw. The winner’s name and county may be disclosed to anyone who writes within one month after the published closing date, starting the date of publication and enclosing a stamped addressed envelope to Open Day Competition, Fry 201, Southwood Site, The University of Greenwich, Avery Hill Road, Eltham SE9 2UG.

16. Events may occur that render the competition itself or the awarding of the prizes impossible due to reasons beyond the control of the University of Greenwich and accordingly, the University of Greenwich may, at its absolute discretion, vary or amend the promotion and the entrant agrees that no liability shall attach to the University of Greenwich a result thereof.

17. English law applies and the exclusive jurisdiction of the English Courts shall prevail.
