Funding schemes

The Institute for Lifecourse Development (ILD) is pleased to announce the 2025/2026 ILD competitive funding opportunities. These funding streams are open to Staff, Early Career Academics (ECAs) and Post-Graduate Researchers (PGRs) within FEHHS.

The Staff, ECA and PGR Competitive Funding schemes are designed to support research and knowledge exchange activities including presentations at conferences (travel, accommodation, and conference fees), equipment, research support (such as participant payments) and fieldwork costs.

Application Process:

Please note that the ILD Competitive Funding Schemes have been extensively revised and are more competitive than in previous years, due to limited availability of funding. There have been significant changes to the application criteria and process. Please see below for more details.

Under the revised ILD Competitive Funding schemes, all applications will be scored by the ILD Competitive Funding Panel reviewers against the 2025/26 ILD Funding Applications Category Descriptors. Please ensure that you review these criteria when making your application:

ILD Funding Applications Criteria

All applications will be reviewed by the ILD Competitive Funding panel at monthly funding panel meetings. Please note that all applications must be received two weeks prior to the meeting and will be reviewed within the following timescales to support fair allocation of funding. Chair’s Actions and retrospective funding applications will therefore not be accepted.
