Senior Teaching Fellow – Mental Health Nursing

Justine joined the university in July 2020 and has 20 years of clinical experience, mainly within child and adolescent mental health services. She has worked with young people and their families within eating disorders services, generic CAMHS, paediatric liaison and neurodevelopmental teams. Justine has also practised as both an independent and supplementary prescriber. Her earlier career was spent in adult acute admissions and adult eating disorders/ affective disorder services.

She currently undertakes a range of pre-registration teaching in mental health nursing, medicines management and nursing pharmacology. In her previous teaching role, she contributed to the nursing associate pilot programme, led a range of pre-registration mental health nursing and pharmacology modules and undertook some post registration teaching on advanced practice and non-medical prescribing programmes.

Justine has an interest in effective assimilation of non-medical prescribing within the mental health nursing role and supporting achievement of concordance in a mental health context. Her previous clinical work in paediatric liaison has led to an interest in facilitating effective multi-disciplinary/ multi-agency teamwork and leadership in mental health nursing students.
