Associate Professor in Electrical Engineering

Dr Zahra Sangelaji received her PhD in control systems engineering from the Department of Automatic Control & Systems Engineering, University of Sheffield, in 2005, under the supervision of Professor Stephen P Banks. She obtained her MEng degree in computer systems engineering from the same institution in 2000.

Dr Sangelaji joined the University of Greenwich in July 2011 as a Lecturer in Electrical Engineering. Prior to this, she worked as a part-time Lecturer in Electrical Engineering at Coventry University where she obtained her PGCert in higher education professional practice in 2009.

Responsibilities within the university

Dr Sangelaji taught the power engineering and introduction to power courses in 2011.  She currently teach the following courses:

  • Engineering science
  • Electrical principles
  • Control and instrumentation

  • Member of the IEEE Women in Engineering
  • Fellow of the Higher Education Academy

Research / Scholarly interests

Dr Sangelaji's research interests are in the area of control systems engineering, in particular nonlinear control design, stabilisation and analysis of nonlinear systems, optimal control and radial angular systems and their applications in various engineering disciplines.
