Online Pre-Sessional English courses
For students who do not meet the English language levels required to start your degree with us, you may be able to join the pre-sessional English programme.
If you need to improve your English language skills before you study at the university, this course could be for you!
You will learn in the comfort of your home – using online teaching and learning services that have been created by our partner, Oxford International Education Group. You will learn the English that you need to succeed academically in the degree you would like to study.

What will I study?
You will have classes that are shorter than most classroom sessions and be given time and subjects to study yourself. You will have to submit videos, audio recordings, and written tasks, and expert English language teachers will be there to support you at each point.
Some facts about the programme:
- The course is tailored to suit the online learning
- Class with a maximum of 12 students
- Classes will be recorded, so you can catch up, or watch any content again
- You will be graded and assessed throughout the programme, so additional support can be given if needed
- Teaching will take up to 120 minutes per day - you will have additional study projects to complete
- Teaching will take place via Zoom & Teams – you will get full information in your "Welcome Pack"
- You will have access to a "Virtual Learning Environment" – you do not need to buy any books
University of Greenwich English Language Test (OIETC)
We have teamed up with our long-term academic partner, Oxford International Education Group, to offer students the chance to take an online entry test in place of an IELTS, if you are not able to take one.
This test can be taken online and is available for students who hold an offer to study with us. The score you require from this test relates to the IELTS requirement of your chosen programme of study.
Once you have completed the OIETC, the result will be emailed to you directly, and you must forward the result to us at international@gre.ac.uk to confirm your requirement has been met.
