Learning takes place through a combination of timetabled learning and independent study.
You can view more information about how each module is taught within our 'What you will study' section.
Seminars and workshops enable you to discuss and develop your understanding of topics covered in lectures in smaller groups. You will also be able to meet your dedicated Academic Tutor. Timetabled learning may fall between 9am and 9pm depending on your courses and tutorials.
The typical student intake per year averages 100-110. Lectures are normally attended by larger groups, and seminars/tutorials by smaller groups. This can vary more widely for modules that are shared between degrees.
Outside of timetabled sessions, you are also expected to dedicate time to self-study. This may involve further reading and research, preparing coursework and presentations, and preparing for tests and exams. Each course has formal assessments which count towards your grade. Some courses may also include 'practice' assignments, which help you monitor progress and do not count towards your final grade.
We aim to give feedback on assignments within 15 working days.
The academic year runs from September to June.
Full teaching timetables are not usually available until term has started. For any queries, please use our contact form.

As well as becoming architects, graduates can pursue opportunities in computer-aided design, animation, urban design, interior design, arts and media, project management, graphic design and the construction industry.
The traditional pathway to becoming an architect in the UK is currently evolving, as the Architects Registration Board (ARB) seeks to widen access to the profession. This route has typically included an accredited undergraduate degree, postgraduate study, a period of practical experience, and a final examination before registration. From 2028, the ARB will no longer accredit undergraduate architecture degrees across the UK, meaning this will no longer be a mandatory step toward registration.
ARB-accredited postgraduate qualifications, including Master’s and Part 3 courses, will continue to be required for professional registration.
The Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) will continue to accredit our undergraduate and postgraduate architecture courses.
You can learn more about these changes here ARB student information webpage.
