The Vice-Chancellor

The Vice-Chancellor is the Chief Executive of the university and has overall responsibility for the management of the institution and its direction. They are accountable to the University Governing Body.

About Professor Jane Harrington

Professor Jane Harrington became Vice-Chancellor of the University of Greenwich in December 2019. 

Previous experience

Jane was previously Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Provost at UWE Bristol. In this role she was responsible for academic faculties, student facing professional services, research and business engagement and partnership activities. Prior to this, Jane held the post of Pro Vice-Chancellor of the Faculty of Business and Law. 

Jane has worked in Higher Education for over 25 years and has held international posts in the Canary Islands and India and has worked for the United Nations University of Peace. 

Education and research

Jane is an alumna of Bristol Business School. She has researched and taught human resource management and has a specific interest in the areas of gender and work and research methodology.

Interests and expertise

Jane's interests include teaching excellence and the student experience, social mobility and widening access into higher education, and improving partnership working across the business and university sectors. She is also motivated by the development of innovative programmes.
