It’s important to remember that while some restrictions are easing, wearing face coverings and social distancing rules are still in place. |

What changed from 17 May
- Students can return to university campuses if courses haven’t already resumed - your faculty teams can answer any questions you have about your course.
- Socially distanced café seating is available in:
- The Galley Café, Dreadnought building, Greenwich campus
- The Dome Eatery, Avery Hill campus.
- Pembroke Café, Medway campus.
- Greenwich Students' Union services have also changed from 17 May. You can meet more, use GSU rooms and take part indoor sport – more information is available on the GSU website.
- You can socialise indoors in a group of up to 6 people or two households.
- Up to 30 people will be able to meet outdoors and pubs, theatres and other venues will be open for indoor service. You will also be able to travel and stay overnight within the UK.
This means you will be able to socialise and undertake activities with other students, and we encourage you to enjoy the events taking place on and off campus, while remaining within the government’s guidance and ensuring you do not disturb our local communities, and other student residents if you live in halls.
You still need to maintain social distancing and wear face coverings
This includes in our university buildings, libraries and on our university bus.
You should continue to stay 2 metres apart from anyone who is not in your household or support bubble, or 1 metre with extra precautions, such as face coverings, if you cannot stay 2 metres apart.
Meeting outdoors is always safer, and you should continue to maintain good hand hygiene – remember: Hands, Face, Space and Fresh Air.
Regular Covid testing when you visit campus
If you’re returning to campus, or our halls of residence, then you should get a LFD/Rapid test before you return, e.g. at a council-run community test site near you or using a home test kit.
Once you are back, the government’s guidance is that you should get three LFD tests 3-4 days apart at one of our test sites or at a community test site. After that, you should get tested twice a week with 3-4 days between tests at a test site or by testing yourself using a home test kit.
We have test sites on all of our campuses, where you can get tested and pick up home test kits. You can also order home test kits online and collect them from a range of other sources. You can find full details of these, and our weekly prize draw Covid testing survey, on the portal.
Staying Covid-Safe in our halls of residence
Each flat in our halls of residence is considered a household for the purposes of the government guidance. Therefore, flatmates should discuss arrangements for inviting guests to their flat. You should also consider minimising noise levels and generally avoiding disruption, especially during the exam period when other students may be sitting online exams, and studying for them, in their rooms.
Student Support and resources
The Student Wellbeing Service is open and running a remote, online support service during Term 2. The teams are available Monday – Friday 9am to 5pm. You can contact them if you have any questions or concerns or would like to book an online or phone appointment.
