Our priorities

As detailed in the Estates Sub-strategy, our priorities are:-

  • Student Success
  • Inclusivity and Culture
  • Research and Knowledge Exchange
  • Connected and Sustainable Campuses

What can we help with?

FM support and enquires

Sodexo operate a Helpdesk supporting colleagues across the academic buildings at Avery Hill, Bathway, Greenwich and Medway.

Requests for porters, cleaning, security and maintenance can be logged using the staff or student online system.  Alternatively, by direct email to fmcentralhelpdesk@greenwich.ac.uk and for any urgent matters, 24/7 support is available from Ext. 7779 / 020 8331 7779.

In the event that you are not satisfied with the response to your FM Helpdesk request, please contact the contract monitoring team at FMhelpdesk-serviceescalation@greenwich.ac.uk. Any compliant should include a job reference so that the team can liaise with Sodexo to address your concerns.

Students residing in Cleaves, Howard, Parr and Tudor Courts at Avery Hill Student Village should report any faults direct to the Student Living Team: AveryHill.UK@studentliving.sodexo.com

If you live in the McMillan Student Village in Greenwich, CLV who manage this hall will have provided you with details on how to report issues.

Access to our buildings and facilities

All our campuses now use the Greenwich Gateway card (including shared areas at Medway).  Please ensure that you always carry your card to be able to access our buildings. Giving your card to someone else is not acceptable and anyone not visibly wearing their card may be asked to produce it.

Hospitality and catering

Each campus has catering outlets with options for light snacks, refreshments and hot and cold food.

See delivered catering services for what can be provided for meetings, conferences and events.

What you need to know

Accessibility

The university is a partner of AccessAble, the UK’s leading provider of detailed disabled access information.  The guide helps students, visitors and staff plan their journey to and around our campuses.

English Heritage

  • Many of our buildings are English Heritage and as such, permission for works must be given by Historic England.  Please give us as much notice as possible for such works so that we have adequate time to liaise with Historic England.  Not all requests can be met, so we would strongly advise there is some flexibility built into your requests.
  • To protect these buildings and to abide by the rules set by Historic England, we must not fix any temporary signage to walls or doors with blue tack, tape, pins, etc.

Health & Safety

  • Induction – health and safety induction video for staff and students.  Your faculty/directorate will also provide you with local H&S induction.
  • All accidents/incidents should be reported as soon as possible to Health & Safety Services.
  • Planned fire alarm tests take place weekly in all buildings.  These will sound for under a minute and vacation of the building is not required.  Should an alarm last longer, you must leave the building and report to fire assembly point.
  • Statutory building evacuation drills are held once a term and can be either announced or unannounced.  This is to ensure that staff and students are aware of the university’s expectations in the unlikely event of an emergency.  Everyone is expected to actively participate.
  • Personal Emergency Evacuation Plans (PEEPs) for staff or students who might need some additional time or help to evacuate.
  • Please observe lecture finish times to ensure free movement around our academic buildings and avoid potential overcrowding.
  • Health & Safety guidance provided by the university’s Health & Safety Services team.
