One University, One Voice: Students using their words to celebrate our Academic staff #10

The quotes show the high regard our students have for our university community, and we think that's something to celebrate.

We have lots of quotes* from our students, which usually we'd share on our digital screens across our campuses, however with many of us not currently on campus we didn't want that to stop us.

Students can nominate the staff and student representatives who have made a real impact on their university experience in this year's Student Led Teaching Awards.

Jessica Templeton's lectures are always engaging and full of industry information. She inspires her students to do their best.

Dr Alex Pheby is a great teacher. His directness and unwavering high standards were challenging, but, as with every great teacher I soon understood why and found I was a far better writer because of this.

Dr Claire Rossato is helpful and committed to ensuring I produced the best dissertation I could

Barry Curnow is the most down to earth, motivational, driven, open-minded & support driven tutor I ever had.

Dr Anastasios Maragiannis is an exceptional tutor, he really cares about what he does and it shows in every lesson. He also goes the extra mile to organise things that he thinks would be good for his students.

Andy Wicks is full of joy and there is never a dull moment with him. Very calming towards students who overthink and stress over coursework.

David Davy has been so helpful to all psychology students this year who have decided to conduct experiments in the psychology labs. Being in the labs day in and day out with participants would not have been nearly so good without his presence and assistance.

Gemma Boden is the most supportive and helpful lecturer I have worked with. She inspires me to work harder by encouraging me to do my best.

Dr Lauren Pecorino is always enthusiastic, approachable, happy to answer questions and explain things in further detail. She has made biochemistry interesting and taught complicated topics in imaginative ways.

Dr Paul Newton has been so supportive in guiding me through my Masters and is always available for help and reassurance. Feedback is given in a positive and encouraging manner which has enabled me to develop skills and understanding  throughout my studies.

Without Cherry Smyth's encouragement I'd have never found such joy in writing my own poetry.

Dr Damian Poulter is very approachable, supportive; encouraging personal growth and academic success.

The support Dr Jennifer Patterson has provided me is very much appreciated.  It is her great understanding of being human that has helped the most, understanding the difficulties life can throw at you and how listening can make a difference.  It's ok to tell her that things are not okay.  She will always talk to you about her work, but she is even more interested in yours.

The Business School Employability Office are a fantastic help for students looking to be more employable. The team and their group of champions are always supportive and willing to help and encourage students.

Dr Abigail Rickard's way of teaching is fantastic, and she's always smiling which is contagious and makes everyone feel great.

Dr Charlotte Jeavons is really inspirational and a great lecturer, I welcome the support she provides.

On behalf of our students, thank you.
