We also accept a wide range of other English language qualifications, from academic English tests such as TOEFL or PTE English to high school level qualifications that you may have taken in your country, such as GCSE English or a WAEC English Language.

These requirements can vary by country. If you have studied high school level English in your home country, please attach a copy of the award to your application. We will consider any qualification you attach to see if we can exempt you from our standard IELTS requirement.

If you already have an offer to study with us and think you might have an English language qualification that could be considered, please email us at international@gre.ac.uk attaching a copy of your qualification.

University of Greenwich English Language Test (UOGELT)

We have teamed up with our long-term academic partner, Oxford International Education Group, to offer students the chance to take an online entry test in place of an IELTS, if you are not able to take one.

This test can be taken online and is available for students who hold an offer to study with us.

Use discount code UGELLT to purchase the UOGELT test for only £50

Once you have completed the test, you will receive your result via email, and it will automatically be forwarded to us to update your offer, providing you have passed the test.

If you haven't yet applied to us, find out how to apply.

Online Pre-Sessional English

If your IELTS score is below our standard requirements listed above, you may be eligible for our online pre-sessional English (PSE) programme. See the requirements for the programme.

If you do not currently hold an IELTS and think you might need a pre-sessional English programme to reach the required level, you can also take the University's English Language Test (UOGELT).

Use discount code UGELLT to purchase the UOGELT test for only £50

If you do not achieve the required score for direct entry, you will be eligible to study our online pre-sessional course using your UOGELT result. The result is sent to us directly and if you require a PSE, we will email you details of how to attend and pay for the course.
