You must show your English language skills to complete your course. Requirements vary by course and level, but the good news is, you don't have to wait to reach the required level before you apply.

Here's what you need:

  • IELTS 6.0 with a minimum of 5.5 in each component

For some undergraduate and postgraduate taught courses, you need:

  • IELTS 6.5 with a minimum of 5.5 in each component

For MPhil/PhD postgraduate research degrees, you need:

  • IELTS 6.5 with a minimum of 6.5 in each component

For many of our extended degree programmes, you will need:

  • IELTS 5.5 with a minimum of 5.5 in each component

The English language requirements for some extended degree programmes vary.

If you've already completed an IELTS test, e-mail us your Test Report Form Number right away. Please include your full name, date of birth and student reference number. If you're applying for a Tier 4 (General) student visa from the UK Government, you'll be asked to provide a UKVI approved Secure English Language Test. Find out more here.
