We’re really looking forward to seeing you on campus in January.
Welcome Week timetables and introductions
Welcome to the Faculty of Law, Arts & Social Sciences. We are very much looking forward to meeting you. Below is some information to help you find your first activity to help get you started.
You are expected to attend all timetabled introduction sessions for your course.
In the meantime, we will be adding a list showing the first meeting for new students for each course on this webpage soon - note that locations may be subject to change. You should follow guidance sent to you from your Course Team.
Your teaching timetable will be available on the My Student Timetable tab in the portal - guidance is provided to help you navigate the system. Please do though check back regularly for latest information as timetables are subject to change during the first weeks of term.
Key people
The people listed below will support you throughout your journey with us.
- Programme leaders: Your programme is the degree you are studying (e.g. BSc, BA, LLB). The programme leader liaises with module leaders managing the individual modules (courses) on your programme. Programme leaders also work with senior management in your school to ensure the smooth running of the programme. Your programme leader is the person named on the webpage for your programme.
- Module leader: Your course modules will be taught by one or several lecturers, but this person leads in planning the module, teaching, supporting and assessing it and ensuring quality. They will be able to answer your questions about a specific module.
- Faculty Student Advisor: Your Faculty Student Advisor provides pastoral support and is your first point of contact if you have any queries or issues. They can help you to access help if you need it at any time throughout your studies.
- Faculty Senior Tutor: The Senior Tutor oversees support systems to students for their academic progress and personal development.
- Academic tutors: You will have group and individual sessions with your academic tutor. They will help you to set academic, professional, career and personal development goals for the academic year. Your academic tutor will help you make the transition to university study and to subsequent levels of study as you continue your degree. Your academic tutor will also signpost you to relevant academic support provided by university, including skills sessions.
