Food Vouchers

If you are experiencing an unexpected financial crisis and are unable to afford food, toiletries or other essential items as a result, you may be eligible to apply for a food voucher.

Any current fully registered University of Greenwich student who meets the eligibility criteria can request a food voucher:

Home student eligibility:

  • You are a fully registered student at the University of Greenwich
  • You'll be studying at Greenwich, Avery Hill or Medway Campus or one of our Partner Colleges where your tuition fee is paid directly to us.
  • Your household income is below £25,000.
  • If you are studying an undergraduate course, you will receive the full maintenance loan from Student Finance England.
  • If you are studying a postgraduate course, you will receive a postgraduate loan and you have evidence of financial planning to a pay your tuition fees and living costs.

Overseas Eligibility:

  • You are an International fee-paying student or EU student not in receipt of a maintenance loan.
  • You are a fully registered student at the University of Greenwich.
  • You'll be studying at Greenwich, Avery Hill or Medway Campus or one of our Partner Colleges where your tuition fee is paid directly to us.
  • You must be up to date with all fee payments.
  • New (year 0 or 1) can only apply from term 2.

There is no guarantee that a voucher will be issued, and all requests will be considered on their individual merits. There will be a limited amount available up to the value of £20 each. Vouchers can be used at selected supermarkets and there is no cash alternative.

Vouchers are not a long-term solution to financial difficulties, and you may only make one application per term.

You will need to complete an application and provide evidence to support your request.

Applicants must demonstrate less than £500 in all bank accounts including savings.

How to apply

Please complete the online application form.

Students are permitted one voucher per term. The fund will close Friday the 19th July 2024 (excluding Christmas Break) or until funds have been spent.

Applicants who do not provide ALL supporting documentation required will be declined.

Evidence

Home students will need to provide:

1.            Student Entitlement Summary or,

2.            University Payment Advice

To obtain these please follow these instructions:

1.            Go to https://www.gov.uk/student-finance-register-login and sign in.

2.            On the homepage, click "Your Inbox" and select "letters".

3.            Open the most recent “Notification of Entitlement” letter.

4.            Click on the PDF and save it to your computer

All students will need to provide three months fully detailed for banks statements for all accounts for you and your partner (if applicable) for all accounts and evidence of Bank overdraft facility. Screen shots from mobile banking applications will not be accepted.
