This Electrical and Electronic Engineering degree combines strong theoretical foundations with practical, project-based learning, preparing you to tackle the challenges facing today's engineering industries. You will explore key areas including electrical circuits, analogue and digital electronics, embedded systems, control and instrumentation, power systems, telecommunications and electromagnetic waves, while developing the analytical and problem-solving skills that employers value
Throughout the course, you will apply your learning through hands-on laboratory sessions, design projects and real-world engineering challenges. Working in our specialist facilities, including power, robotics, control and telecommunications laboratories, you will gain experience using industry-relevant equipment and technologies to design, test and evaluate engineering solutions. From developing electronic systems and programming embedded devices to analysing complex engineering problems, you will build practical skills alongside technical knowledge.
As you progress, you will undertake increasingly complex individual and group projects that mirror professional engineering practice, strengthening your teamwork, communication and project management abilities. In your final year, an individual project in a specialist area of your choice will allow you to showcase your creativity, technical expertise and innovation while exploring a subject that aligns with your career ambitions. By graduation, you will have developed the confidence, experience and engineering mindset needed for careers across a wide range of sectors, from electronics and communications to energy, automation and emerging technologies.
Please note: This programme is currently undergoing re-accreditation by the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET). We fully expect the programme to receive accreditation, providing a pathway towards Chartered Engineer (CEng) status.
