Library: Reciprocal borrowing (SCONUL)

SCONUL Access is a scheme which allows many university library users to borrow or use books and journals at other libraries which belong to the scheme.

SCONUL is The Society of College, National and University Libraries. It's a co-operative venture between most of the higher education libraries of the UK and Ireland that enables staff, research students, full time postgraduate and part-time, distance learning and placement students to borrow material from other libraries. Restrictions to this service may be put in place during busy periods.

Features and Benefits

  • Access for eligible users to over 170 higher education libraries in the UK and Ireland.
  • If you are eligible to borrow you may take up to five items at any one time.
  • Wireless access to the eduroam network is available to students from participating. universities, via their own laptops. However, no other IT facilities are available.
