  • Storage Systems;
  • Outgassing Hazards;
  • Safety Issues;
  • Operational Aspects of using a Tanker;

A 'Hall of Shame' has been compiled to highlight real examples of bad practice.

Is this course for me?

This half day course is aimed at the drivers of lorries and tankers responsible for delivering wood pellets to site. Management will also benefit from attending to gain an understanding of issues encountered and methods of preventing or dealing with them.

Pellet manufacturers and multi-national companies handling pellets might also benefit from our range of short courses for industry, covering a variety of bulk materials handling subjects.

The course can be held anywhere in the country. To host a course you need to be able to provide a venue with IT facilities for a minimum 12 delegates. Then contact Caroline Chapman at the Wolfson Centre on 020 8331 8646 or c.j.chapman@gre.ac.uk.

*this option is generally only available if the course date is 30 days (payment terms and conditions) in the future to allow the payment of invoices before the start of the course.

Your place will be confirmed upon receipt of payment.We reserve the right to refuse entry if payment has not been received in advance.


Delegate places may be credited up to 2 weeks before the start of the course, at our discretion. After this time, no credits will be available. In this case, delegates are welcome to transfer to another course free of charge or substitutions can be made. In the event of a delegate leaving the company within 2 weeks of a course date, their registration will be transferred to a future course for their replacement/another staff member.

Where a company books a course for their own staff only, the fee will be agreed at the time of booking and cancellations will not be credited.

If a high number of cancellations are received for any one course, we reserve the right to cancel and re-schedule the whole course.

Course certificates

Attendance certificates are provided for all delegates upon completion of the course and receipt of payment. Copies are not kept on file. Should duplicate certificates be required, we reserve the right to charge an admin fee of £25 per occasion (not per certificate). If you are the keeper of certificates for your company please ensure you speak directly to each Driver as and when they complete the course, to obtain their certificate from them.
