High performance multi-function devices, which can be used for printing, photocopying and scanning (MFDs) are located throughout campus and provide low cost printing and copying.

Please note that several changes to the MFD system have been implemented to reduce contact and improve hygiene.

  • When you login into a MFD and all your print jobs waiting will now be printed automatically, ensuring minimal contact  with the device. (You will no longer have to select the desired print job from the on-screen queue).
However, any copying or scanning will still require the use of the touchpad.
  • There will be a visual message displayed about cleaning and touching an MFD during login and logout.

Printing

The university now uses a  "pull" printing system, which holds your print job(s) in a central location (print queue).  You can then retrieve your print job(s) from any public printer by using your Greenwich Gateway card  to tap the console and log in.

The video below shows how to release or cancel your print jobs from an MFD.

Scanning

We recommend that you use the "scan and send" function on our MFDs to send scans of printed material to your university email address. This means you have a copy you can review and highlight yourself, while reducing the amount of paper we use.

The university holds a Copyright Licensing Agency (CLA) licence, which permits scanning and copying of copyrighted material for the benefit of our staff and students. Please check the permitted amounts here, or by checking the signage next to our MFDs.
