Map my assessment

The issue of timeliness of feedback is often related to the issue of bunching. The University of Greenwich produced software that can assist in planning the assessment. The use of this software is now mandatory for programme approaching the review process and a print out needs to be included in the review documentation.

Map My Assessment offers a visual representation of assessment type, hand in dates, weighting and feedback return date, which allows staff to spot clashing deadlines, explore whether the assessments are adequately aligned with other courses within a programme, and enables students to better manage their time. The tool supports a simple development process that allows staff to play with the assessment components of their courses and see graphically, in real-time, the consequences of their design decisions at programme level. Hence it also helps with planning for timely feedback.

Hence from the staff point of view Map My Assessment offers the following benefits:

  • Helps to manage assessment bunching
  • Provides the basis for redesign of assessment
  • Provides evidence for validation documentation
  • Facilitates collegial development
  • Communication assessment deadlines
  • Helps with time management for return of feedback
  • Provides information in relation to peaks of activity
  • Links to good practice

Benefits for students:

  • provides an overview of the programme level assessment
  • provides information in relation to peaks of activity
  • helps with time management
