Windows 10 will reach end of support in October 2025. We are preparing for this by identifying and replacing devices that cannot be upgraded to Windows 11.
When Windows 10 reaches end of support in October 2025, Microsoft will stop providing security updates and technical assistance for the operating system.
Due to security concerns, any remaining Windows 10 devices will be blocked from connecting to the university network after the cut-off date.
We are preparing for this by identifying and replacing devices that cannot be upgraded to Windows 11.
PC replacements and upgrades
ILS Teams are working with Faculties and Directorates to schedule upgrade work and install replacement hardware across our campuses over the summer. We will prioritise areas with machines that cannot be upgraded to Windows 11.
- We will continue to replace staff PCs with docks for InTune laptops. Our IT Asset Management Project site has information about IT assets that are available to staff.
- We are updating our teaching spaces to ensure compatibility with Windows 11 ahead of the new academic year.
- All student PCs will be reimaged to provide the new Windows 11 PC build. This will provide more up to date software and improve security and reliability.
